Specialisms:

  • Experimental Hydrodynamics and Aerodynamics
  • Electro-mechanical systems
  • Coding

What does your role entail?

In the short time that I have been here I have been able to experience a large range of our consultancy services. This includes assisting with model testing of both motor craft and offshore renewables structures, beta testing Wolfson Software and developing our offering of services to do with active stabilisation of free running remote control models.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

My colleagues are all very experienced each with their own specialism and I make the most of learning from them at every opportunity. I enjoy the range of projects we work on, it is rewarding to apply skills I have learnt to different engineering problems. I have a passion for boats and enjoy the challenge of engineering problems and working at the Unit gives me the opportunity to combine the two!

What do you see as the Wolfson Unit’s Strengths?

I think the unit’s biggest strength is its people. The experience, diligence and skill exhibited by my colleagues has been inspiring to witness and I think offers real value to our clients. We operate in a unique place in the market as we have a strong connection with the University of Southampton but almost operate as a separate entity. This enables us to make the most of being part of a prestigious academic institution while also being able to offer bespoke, flexible and independent consultancy.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I am a member of a local running club and enjoy getting out in the South Downs National Park for some muddy trail runs on the weekend. I also enjoy paddling my kayak on the Hamble river or Solent in the summer.
