His primary areas of interest involve computational modelling, wind tunnel testing, and software development.

Sandy spent over 10 years working with UK Sport and British cycling prior to the Beijing, London and Rio Olympics, mainly in the area of wind tunnel testing and aerodynamic optimisation. He has led the Wolfson Unit’s development of CFD services since he started work at the Unit, and is currently focussed on the modelling and performance prediction for wind assisted shipping.

He writes and maintains a range of software from in house C++ code for computation modelling, through to scripting languages and commercial GUI software such as the Wolfson Unit Hullscant program.

Sandy is a Chartered Engineer and a member of RINA.
