The Wolfson has been working on the evaluation of Wind assisted technologies since its inception, efficiently combining its expertise in model scale hydrodynamic and aerodynamic testing, CFD, performance modelling and sailing yacht research.
This is particularly relevant to the urgent need for the Shipping Industry to reduce its carbon emissions and to reach the net zero Greenhouse Gas emissions by 2050.

Research
As well as conducting consultancy, the Wolfson Unit undertakes research in this field. Recent examples include our participation in an Innovate UK Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC) Round 4 as well as others. We can work with clients to develop research proposals as an academic partner due to our connection with the University of Southampton. These resources can be from within our team and stretch to the wider University Research community such as the Maritime group.
